LHPC Update from Henley Cleary

Hello Pickleballers!

Hopefully, everyone is having a fun-filled extended 4th of July weekend! The recent Pickleball Social was a great success. Thank you to Susan Nock and all her helpers for organizing the gathering.

Players are getting geared up for our next Ladder League which is beginning July 12th. There is so much interest that we have added 2 indoor courts for several of the time periods in order to accommodate more players. Yea!!!

Our numbers continue to grow, for which we are very grateful. David and Leonard are hosting clinics for beginners and Julie and Brigid continue to organize creative play for all levels. Thank you for all the work that all of you do for us.

Our “organizational signs” are in and Monty plans to put them up on all courts:

  • MWF are skill level days with 3.25 and below playing on courts 1 & 2, and 3.5 and above on courts 3 & 4.

  • T, Th,Sat are days when levels can mix so that players can try to play at a higher level in order to practice their skills.

WHEN PLAYING AGAINST PICKLERS OF A LOWER SKILL LEVEL PLEASE PLAY TO ASSIST, NOT TO ANNIHILATE. THIS IS A SOCIAL GAME AMONG FRIENDS AND WE NEED TO ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER TO GET BETTER NOT DISCOURAGE THROUGH INTIMIDATION………. REPEATEDLY FORCING PLAY TO THE LOWER SKILL LEVEL PLAYER AS WELL AS STRIKING THEM WITH THE BALL IS NOT HOW FRIENDS PLAY WITH FRIENDS

As always, if you have questions, concerns or constructive criticisms please contact me at henleycleary@gmail.com

Happy Pickling!

Henley
